Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is the next generation of Google Analytics replacing “Universal Analytics” (UA) when the product is fully deprecated on July 1, 2023.

The platform collects both website and app data to better under the customer journey. Similar to UA, GA4 can be integrated with a variety of other platforms, including Google Ads and Display & Video 360 with significant planning and effort by advanced users.

Due to the impending deprecation of UA and the complexities involved with the GA4 integrations, it is not uncommon for MetaRouter to encounter customers who are setting GA4 up for the first time and/or require consultation in configuring GA4 for their business’s needs.

This document assumes the customer already has a fully-functional & integrated GA4 property for web-based events. If this is not the case, we recommend our customers engage a Google-Certified Marketing Platform Partner to assist with setting up GA4 and product linking functions of other Google integrations.

What do I need to integrate?

From Google Analytics UI

Click Settings in the bottom left to open the Admin Panel
Select Account and Property and click Data Streams
Navigate to Additional Settings and select Measurement Protocol API Secrets.
From this page, click Create and enter "MetaRouter S2S API" as the nickname
Click Create to generate the secret value.
Copy and send this secret value to your MetaRouter account manager through a private and secure communication channel.
